Whimsical Wednesday is a bi-weekly collection of some cool, magical, and mundane things (some tarot-related, some not) that have caught my eye or other senses and have helped me add pockets of whimsy to my life.

1. Silly mythology memes

Every couple years, my department offers mythology as a five-week summer literature course. I’ve taught it the past few times and I’m teaching it again this summer. This means that I’m on the lookout for particularly silly mythology memes to share with my students. I chuckled at the Odyssey meme above, my latest find. Here are a couple more:

2. Tabby Booth’s tarot prints

Tabby Booth’s folk-art inspired illustrations are so fun and magical. Her tarot print collection is gorgeous! Below are just a few of my favorites.

3. Younger

How did I not know about this show until just a couple months ago!? They created seven seasons! Seven glorious seasons which I devoured faster than any other show.

Younger, starring Hillary Duff, Sutton Foster, and Debi Mazar (pictured above) is about a 40-year-old divorcee who tries to go back to work in publishing after taking over a decade off to raise her daughter. After a slew of failed interviews due to her age and out-of-touchness with the modern (i.e. social media) marketing world, she finally gets a job as an assistant only after she lies and says she’s 26. Hilarity ensues as she masquerades as a 26-year-old in both her professional and personal life.

And did I mention SEVEN SEASONS!? This is the ultimate binge show for book lovers in need of something light and frothy but majorly compelling (and addictive!) to watch.

Ulta’s Too Cheeky Color Stick

I know the semester is coming to an end when it starts to become too hot to comfortably wear anything that could be considered even remotely “professional” or “professorial” to work. And when it starts to get sweaty in Los Angeles, it becomes equally uncomfortable to wear loads of makeup. I just discovered Ulta’s lip and cheek tint stick (pictured above in a few of its many shades) and I’m in love. I do a quick swipe over my lips and the apples of each cheek and after just a few taps of my finger, everything is blended into a subtle summer glow.

Plus, I love the low maintenance of a single thing to dab on my face. It makes me feel like I’m out living my best summer life and can’t be bothered to do anything more because there are places to go and adventures to have.

Are you a fan of summer? I’m really not actually, so I’m trying the best I can to make it full of ease and whimsy as I await my beloved autumn months.
