The Tarot Cards that Keep Showing Up
I read tarot at a wedding, and the cards had an undeniable message for the collective
I got to read tarot cards for some of the guests at my friends' whimsical wedding in the hills of Los Angeles a few nights ago, and I couldn't help but notice a few cards that kept coming up over and over again. It didn’t matter whether I was doing a relationship reading, a career reading, or a let’s-just-see-what-the-cards-have-to-say reading. One or more of the same three cards seemed to wiggle their way into the spread, with just a few exceptions.
I even checked in with my tarot community on Instagram yesterday and there was a definite consensus. A lot of us seem to be seeing some combination of these three cards in our tarot readings of late.
So what does it mean?
Read on to find out which three tarot cards are demanding an audience and what that might mean for you right now.
What do I mean by collective energy?
The repeated appearance of the same few tarot cards is actually a pretty common occurrence when readings are being given at an event or being done by multiple people together in a common space. Tarot readers often report a “greatest hit” or two of the night. And I know that at my monthly Tarot Circle here in Los Angeles (powered by Creative Mornings and hosted by yours truly), the tarot cards we pull together often repeat or piggy back off each other in interesting ways.
I take it as a good sign when this happens. It’s a sign that the frequency of the location isn’t too frenetic and all over the place, and that the people occupying that space are for the most part riding the same wave length of energy. In other words, the vibes are vibin!
And if this is the case, that collective energy will almost always come through our own intuition, the querents, and the tarot cards, even though each reading is wholly unique. It's like an underlying current that connects us all in that space and time, and it's kind of magical!
Here is the three-card tarot message that kept coming through at my friends’ wedding. The connection seemed to click into place once I was done doing tarot readings and back on the dance floor, champagne in hand, and scream-singing along to Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.”

Justice: Face what happened.
A lot of us seem to be dealing with notions of fairness and merit - how we may have been wronged in the past or did not get the outcome we thought we deserved. It can be so difficult to keep going after a setback that feels unfair or even personally galling.
And don’t even get me started on the hopefully rare instances where we we may have acted in a way we’re not proud of. Guilt can be even more paralyzing!
Ten of Swords: End what’s not working anymore.
Despite what may have occurred in the past, it seems like most of us have an idea - a dreamy vision even - of who we want to be going forward. A totally new way of viewing and navigating the world around us. Of course, we have to “die” to our old selves to let this new self emerge. We have to accept the end of something we may stubbornly still be holding on to.
What can we do to let go of the past - or past versions of us - so that we can start that new relationship, project, adventure, life?
Nine of Cups: Claim what you want!
This was probably my favorite recurring card of the night. It seemed to ask if we truly believe that we are worthy of what we want. Are we ready to proudly sit before all that we have created and cultivated in our lives? Do we feel gratitude and pride in who we are and what we have to offer?
That’s sometimes easier said than done.
TL;DR version:
Face the shit that happened, end the attitude or approach that’s not working, and claim what you want instead! You owe it to yourself, after all.
