Tarot Book Club Starts Next Week!
Everything you need to know, plus your reading guide to download
The time has come. It’s the start of our tarot book club!
Our first read is Heal the Witch Wound: Reclaim Your Magic and Step Into Your Power by Celeste Larsen, and below is the suggested eight-week reading schedule with three live online hangs. Yay!
Why this reading schedule?
You’ll notice that the suggested reading schedule above (which is part of your gorgeous 23-page reading guide, linked for downloading below) jumps around between chapters a bit.
That’s because Larsen’s book is divided into two narrative sections (Parts 1 and 2) and a Part 3 that’s a compendium of rituals to try. I paired ritual chapters from Part 3 with our more straightforward readings of Parts 1 and 2 so we can practice and play as we read, rather than waiting until the end of the book to try anything. I have found that when I separate reading from application, I never actually get around to doing most of the work I’m reading about. So hopefully this remedies that and gives us even more to discuss!
What if I fall behind on reading? (Or, what if I’ve already read this book?)
Like I said earlier, I have offered a suggested reading schedule, which you can follow or not. This is not school, after all!
But as a professor, one of my specialties is breaking up large texts in a way that doesn’t overwhelm busy people and that allows for fuller discussions. If you ever fall behind on reading, that’s totally fine. These discussions (both via text chat and Zoom) are bound to be interesting no matter where you are in the book.
Same goes for reading ahead (or being done with the book already!). Just keep in mind that we might not all be where you’re at when we discuss.
How will the live meet-ups work exactly?
This is the first time I’m offering live meet-ups as a paid supporter perk, so I’m excited about this new chapter in our Substack community!
You’ll notice in the schedule above that there are three live meet-ups: two via Substack Chat (think old school AOL chatrooms where we type to each other in real time), and one Zoom meet-up in February. I picked weekend mornings my time so that others of you will hopefully still be awake and available your time, whether that’s in the afternoon or evening.
I will email links to the Substack chats the day before. I will also send the Zoom link out to all paid subscribers before the 2/22 meeting time as well so you can register for the Zoom event.
What if I can’t make it to the live meet-ups?
If you can’t make it to one (or any) of the three live meet-ups, that’s totally fine. Participate to whatever extent you are available and comfortable.
The live chats will remain available long after the designated hour I’ll be at my computer live, so you are free to jump in any time there. I just think it’s fun to have a designated time for as many of us as possible to hop on a chat and know that others are there too.
If everybody is okay with it, I can record our Zoom meet-up and post it for our paid community later so those of us who couldn’t make it live are free to view it and share their thoughts via comments.
What if I don’t want to do this book club?
If this particular book - or perhaps book clubs in general - just aren’t your jam, that’s totally fine too. You won’t be getting daily book club emails from me or anything like that, so please don’t feel like you need to leave!
You’ll receive your regular tarot newsletter, so I hope you continue to enjoy those.
Here’s your 23-page reading guide - click below to download it!
This 23-page guide was so fun to create. It contains the above reading schedule and meet-up dates, discussion questions for each chapter, tarot spreads and exercises to do you as read, beautiful quote pages, and other tidbits (like a hand-selected ambient playlist to listen to while you read!) to help guide our journey through Heal the Witch Wound by Celeste Larsen.
