Happy July, tarot friend! As the east side of Los Angeles continues to explode in guerrilla fireworks that get worse each year, my little family and I are getting ready to make our Independence Day escape. In a couple days we will be on our annual three-day pilgrimage to the beautiful Central Coast where the tree density and brush fire danger make fireworks very illegal and, as a result, make our 4th of July, quite peaceful.
Any summer plans in the works for you? Let me know in the comments!
If you are new to my monthly tarotscopes, here are a few things to know:
First, while I am not a fortune-teller, I do believe in the synchronicity and magical timing of tarot wisdom, especially in trusted and like-minded communities like ours. So I am confident there will be a nugget of wisdom or resonance somewhere in here for all of us.
Second, as a staunch believer in reading tarot for ourselves, I have included two tarot questions with each tarotscope so you can consult your own tarot deck and get an even more personalized message. Because collective readings can only go so far in my humble opinion. This month’s questions are taken from my Inquire Within deck of tarot questions.
And third, the gorgeous tarot cards pictured this month are from the iconic Aquarian Tarot (in a Tin, to be exact) by David Palladini. I love the portability of these tiny tarot decks in tins, and the art deco/retro feel of Palladini’s imagery is really cool.
To check what the energy in July might look like for you, scroll down until you see your sign. Whether you check for your sun sign, moon sign, or rising sign is up to you. Whatever you decide (hell, check all three!), I am sure your intuition will not lead you astray.
Without further ado, here are your July tarotscopes!
Cancer | The Chariot (June 21 - July 22)
Your tarot card for July: The World
Happy birthday season, Cancer! Perhaps fittingly, this month is all about celebrating and rediscovering YOU. For a Cancer, the caregiver of the zodiac, to get the World card, I think the message is to bring the focus and energy back onto yourself for a time. How can you give to yourself this month? What do you need, crave, and desire in order to feel worthy and taken care of? After all, if we don’t give ourselves this kind of attention, who will?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I show myself love? How can I hold stronger boundaries this month?
Leo | Strength (July 23 - Aug. 22)
Your tarot card for July: Four of Swords
Drawing this tarot card a season before your birthday season, Leo, makes me think of a diva on vocal rest before a big show. The Four of Swords is all about slowing down and enjoying some peace and quiet. We all need stimulation and inspo from the outside world, to be sure. But moments of solitude and reflection are when we give ourselves a chance to digest and process everything around us and figure out our next move.
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I foster a sense of inner harmony? What can I take off my plate right now?
Virgo | The Hermit (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22)
Your tarot card for July: Six of Swords
The Six of Swords makes me think of meaningful and mutually beneficial connections for you this month, Virgo. Maybe it’s time to put your friendships back on the front burner after months of focusing on other areas of life, like career or self-improvement. You may not always feel like you need the care and nurturance of others, but it is a damn nice thing to have! And to give in return. How can a focus on community expand your joy this month?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I express kindness this month? How can I be generous with others?
Libra | Justice (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22)
Your tarot card for July: King of Cups
I call this tarot king the master compartmentalizer. The King of Cups doesn’t bypass or ignore his emotions, but he does know when and where to let his feelings take over (and when and where not to!). The challenge with this card, Libra, is to keep a healthy balance between our more public game face and our more private hot mess of a face. We don’t need to hide everything that’s going on in our lives - that’s impractical. But we also can’t open up to just anybody either. Are you happy with where you’re drawing the line?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I navigate the events of this month with grace and poise? What emotions are trying to surface?
Scorpio | Death (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)
Your tarot card for July: The Chariot
You’re in pursuit, Scorpio! But of what? When the Chariot appears in a tarot reading, it doesn’t necessarily tell us what fervent path we are on, but it does tell us that our souls are craving some kind of progress, expansion, or crossing a threshold of sorts. Whatever form this may take in your life right now, Scorpio, allow your intuition to be your North Star. The Chariot card is rarely about the journey everybody else thinks we should be on…
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: What new adventure is calling to me this month? How can I demonstrate trust in the Universe?
Sagittarius | Temperance (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)
Your tarot card for July: Two of Cups
The Two of Cups shows up in a reading when we are being called to connect with another soul in a way that inspires and energizes us. This may or may not be a romantic connection, Sag, which is where a lot of interpretations go wrong. But this Minor Arcana card asks us to pay attention to who our intuition may be pointing to this month. After all, this card is in the suit of cups, so we want our heart to guide us on this. Invitations, people appearing in dreams, acquaintances we’ve been wanting to catch up with, or even new connections we might otherwise be too shy or self-conscious to initiate are all game!
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I connect with others this month? How can I accept love?
Capricorn | The Devil (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)
Your tarot card for July: The Lovers
How interesting! I feel like your tarotscope, Cap, has very similar energy to Sagittarius’ tarotscope (see above), but underlined and in bold! The Lovers card is making me think of deepening existing connections and allowing ourselves to take a close relationship - with a friend, lover, parent, business partner, whomever - to the next level. How can we forge even stronger bonds with our closest connections through mutual respect, trust, and vulnerability? This isn’t for the faint of heart, but the return can be tremendous.
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I respond with love this month? How can I open my heart?
Aquarius | The Star (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)
Your tarot card for July: Knight of Pentacles
When I work with a brand new deck, I don’t usually read reversals. But I feel like this Knight’s message this month contains some of that reversal energy nonetheless, Aquarius. The Knight of Pentacles is a master of responsible routines, and since we’re in the realm of Pentacles, productivity and health routines come to mind. How are your current habits and routines working for you, Aquarius? Which ones energize, nourish, and serve you? And which ones may it be time to reevaluate and drop because they’re actually starting to drag and drain you a bit?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: Where can I be more flexible? What might help me be productive this month?
Pisces | The Moon (Feb. 19 - March 20)
Your tarot card for July: The Star
What a beautiful muse to receive for a tarotscope, Pisces! I love the Star because she is so dreamy and authentic - perfect for a Pisces - but also very grounded in the way she approaches her creativity. When the Star shows up in a tarot reading, I feel like a magical synergy is on the horizon, one that combines an almost divinely inspired outpouring of authentic creative expression with a practical plan for sustainability and success. We are so often working with just one or the other, so ride this beautiful wave, Pisces!
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: What am I being called to share with others this month? How can I let my inner light shine brighter?
Aries | The Emperor (March 21 - April 19)
Your tarot card for July: Four of Wands
The Four of Wands invites us to feather our nests. This tarot card asks us to ponder how we feel about our homes - our favorite corners of the house, the treasured pieces we love having on display, and what makes us feel safe, rested, and loved so that we feel ready to face the world the next day. Since we’re in the realm of Wands with this card, Aries, and not Pentacles, we’re being reminded to get beyond the physical and material aspects of home. What feels replenishing and loving in our personal spaces, and how can we revel in that this month?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: In what can I find beauty this month? How can I create space for new and better things?
Taurus | The Hierophant (April 20 - May 20)
Your tarot card for July: The Hierophant
I love when our zodiac card shows up for our tarotscope, Taurus! A major theme of the Hierophant archetype is ritual. And this month, this Major Arcana card is really feeling like an invitation for us to romanticize the mundane rituals in our lives. How can we play up and really relish in what less magically inclined people might foolishly call mere “errands” or “chores,” and think of them as rituals of replenishment and recharge instead? Maybe shopping for groceries becomes a quest for spell ingredients. Maybe a trip to the car wash becomes an energetic road unblocker. Where can we add some whimsy and romance?
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I embrace play this month? How can I let more light into my life?
Gemini | The Lovers (May 21 - June 20)
Your tarot card for July: Seven of Wands
Success and recognition are funny things. We often work so hard for both and then when we start to receive them, even though we may be really proud and excited, many of us have at least a mini-freak out and wish it would all go away. The Seven of Wands reminds us that that’s just our ego trying to keep us safely hidden in the herd, and that our true self knows that we have beautiful gifts and talents that we are allowed to share with the world and, yes, even be praised for. Others may try to pull us down or dim our light, but if we stand our ground and know that not all vulnerability is unsafe, we can make it through just fine!
Tarot questions to help you dive deeper: How can I embrace my inner strengths? How can I let myself be vulnerable this month?
Let me know which of your tarotscopes resonated most with you this month - your sun, moon, or rising sign. My Pisces sun is definitely ready with arms wide open for that Star energy! How about you?
Happy July, tarot bestie!
Annie
